LiDAR data has been used extensively in the past few years around the world as a design resource for dikes, hydro-electric facilities and wind farms.

The ability to accurately model flood-level limits for dikes and hydro-electric plants as well as wind current modeling for optimal windmill placement has made LiDAR a valuable tool in these industries.

Flood defense management has been a cornerstone of FLI-MAP work in Europe and North America through surveys of levees/dykes to check for heights, changes/maintenance and building inundation models.
