The FLI-MAP 400 system combines the latest in LiDAR acquisition technology with a full compliment of imagery devices. All of the sensors operate simultaneously allowing
for efficient acquisition of five different imaging products to suit a variety of remote sensing needs in corridors and/or small or medium area surveys.
Digital Still Imagery
Two digital high-resolution photo cameras are mounted alongside the video cameras in the down and forward- looking perspectives. Both cameras are configured to capture one image approximately every second. Image resolution achieved on a typical mission is 3-10 cm per pixel, depending on the survey altitude (11.0 Megapixel (4000 x 2672) camera resolution). Images can be fused with the laser data to supply geo-referenced and ortho- rectified images.
Line Scan Imagery
FLI-MAP 400 contains an additional line scan camera which is used to provide true color values to each laser point (Red, Green and Blue attributes can be written to the laser data points). Colorized laser data aids LiDAR interpretation and can be used to produce orthophotography.
Video Imagery
Two rigid mounted, fixed focus digital video cameras (one facing forward at an oblique angle and one facing down) are slaved to GPS time. Video streams are recorded in digital MPEG-4 (avi) format. 720 x 576 pixel resolution. Video imagery may be viewed directly in 3rd party software applications (PLS-CADD, Arc Map) using Fugro's DV Controlled software plug-in.
Ortho rectified image mosaics
Using the FLI-MAP or ADS40 imagery systems allows Fugro SESL to create high quality, high-resolution orthorectified imagery. The FLI-MAP system can produce orthomosaics from the digital still imagery at a stunning 5 to 15 cm (ground) per pixel allowing for detailed feature mapping. The FLI-MAP system can also produce faster and more economical image mosaics from the Line Scan imagery at a lesser image resolution (equal to the LiDAR data point resolution).
